This was the first time I really tried to create a representational drawing. I saw this dog at a deli in Brooklyn and something really drew me to it. I was never good at realism. This was the catalyst to a new way of thinking for me. Using lines to represent basic characteristics of an object, one can ask themselves, what do I see? And why am I able to see it? As a result of this drawing, I try to utilize recognizable icons in my drawings, obscuring them in various ways, seeing how far I can take it before it is no longer recognizable.
